HATS! The Musical
directed by Catharine Thieme (304-685-6264)
A musical comedy inspired by the experiences, philosophies and mission of the Red Hat Society.

Auditions:
Saturday, February 13 -- 10:00 a.m..- 1:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 14 -- 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Creative Arts Center Room 2247 (next to Falbo Theatre)

Run Dates: May 7, 8, 9 (2 performances on the 9th)

Prepare a song and be ready to read from the script.
Bring copy of sheet music for accompanist.
Fill out Audition form and bring to audition.

Roles are for seven women in the 50+ age range. All songs are in a low to middle vocal range. Each character listed below has at least one solo song in the production and many of the music numbers include other characters in chorus parts. In other words singing harmony is required. The vocal styles include ballade, country, salsa, motown and gospel.

Character Descriptions: all female cast
LADY - Mid-to-late 70s.
MARYANNE’s mother. Widow & loving grandmother.
BARONESS - Divorcee. Corporate success. Affluent. From Texas.
CONTESSA - Hispanic, full of attitude with a tendency to exaggerate
DAME - An empty-nester. Wife & mother of 3.
DUCHESS - African-American. Big-boned with sass and ego.
PRINCESS: Breast cancer survivor. Divorcee. Absentminded and forever optimistic.
MARYANNE: 49.999. Teacher. Married. Struggling with her impending 50th birthday.

Auditions and Volunteering
Auditions are open to persons of ALL races and ethnics.

Auditions are held 6-8 weeks prior to production run dates when possible. Announcements are posted here as well as mailed/emailed to those individuals expressing an interest in receiving the information.
