Description:
If you could go back to a point in your life and make one different choice, would you do it? Three couples -- along with several others close to them -- are given that chance when they're invited to the mansion of a secretive recluse. But will their lives be better for the experience, or will they find that what they were searching for was really there in front of them all along?
Characters:
Lob (M, 30s-50s): the gnome-like owner of Sinister Warren, a large country house in a remote part of England.
Matey (M, 20s-40s): Lob’s furtive, bruising butler.
Mr. Dearth (M, 30s-50s): a man who is at heart an artist; a good man who has gone wrong and hates himself for it.
Mr. Purdie (M, 20s-30s): a young barrister with a self-professed deeply passionate nature.
Mr. Coade (M, 50s-60s): a happy, lazy old man.
Mrs. Alice Dearth (F, 30s-50s): a lady of with a fascinating but dangerous character; pointed, sarcastic, and discontented with her life. The other ladies refer to her as “The Dearth”.
Mrs. Purdie (F, 20s-30s): a simple, young wife.
Mrs. Coade (F, 50s-60s): a delightful, resigned lady. Lovingly referred to as ‘Coady’.
Joanna Trout (F, 20s-40s): a sentimental woman.
Lady Caroline Laney (F, 30s-50s): a posh, languid lady, with a drawling manner.
Margaret (F, 18-30s): an energetic, excitable, boyish, young girl, on the cusp of growing up; the daughter of Mr. Dearth’s dreams.
